Mazda RX7 FD3S Dry Carbon Fiber Vented Hood (Type R1 AD9)
Mazda RX7 FD3S Dry Carbon Fiber Vented Hood (Type R1 AD9)
Made using Autoclaved pre-impregnated method on twill Torai Carbon fibre. Dry carbon fibre panels are a lightweight alternative to traditional materials used in automotive construction, such as steel or aluminium.
Lightweight: One of the main advantages of dry carbon fibre panels is their lightweight nature. Carbon fibre is significantly lighter than steel or aluminium, making it an ideal material for reducing the overall weight of a vehicle. This reduction in weight can lead to improvements in performance, handling, and fuel efficiency. Each part is made strong and light (5.5Kg - 6.2Kg) using UV resistant epoxy resin which reduces fading from exposure to the element. The Autoclaved pre-impregnated process makes the part crack and shatter resistant.
This unit offer a 3.8Kg weight saving compared to the OEM unit.
Heat Dissipation: One of the primary advantages of a vented hood is improved heat dissipation. Vents allow hot air to escape from the engine bay more efficiently, reducing under-hood temperatures. This can help prevent heat buildup, which can negatively impact engine performance, especially in high-performance vehicles or during intense driving conditions such as track driving.
With our test car, the combination of the vented hood and high-quality radiator managed to keep the water temperature below 90C consistently and dropped under hood temperature by up to 7C. Some of the most powerful FD RX7 in Australia features this very same hood to keep their engine cool and happy.
This vented bonnet retain factory mounting points and latch mechanism and include a rain tray for those rainy days. It also includes Titanium bolts to keep with the weight reduction theme of this premium product.
